Museums
We are surrounded by fascinating history. Upottery has its own small museum: a World War II Nissen Hut at Upottery Airfield. It contains a unique photographic record of what took place at Upottery Airfield during the period from April 1944 to October 1944 and documents the major role that the Upottery Airfield played in the Normandy invasion during the night of 5th June 1944, D day itself and the days afterwards.
The Museum of Somerset in Taunton and The Rural Life museum in Glastonbury offer a suggestion of what a Somerset life may have been like in years gone by.
The Haynes Motor Museum in Yeovil and the Fleet Air Arm Museum offer a more current history of motor and aviation engineering hosting the largest collection of cars in the UK.
